Contemporary Acupuncture in Women's Health

Acupuncture Course Development

As with most ALIED courses, the content of this course will be developed to meet the needs of the students. The Tutor will discuss with the course organiser what she/he requires to be covered. Then, at the course itself, the content will be adapted to the needs and abilities of the students.

Typical Course Content

This is a two-day specialist course for Chartered Physiotherapists working in the field of Women's Health. Ideally participants should be versed in an understanding of Traditional Chinese Medical [TCM] approach to Acupuncture beyond pain relief. However, this is not mandatory and all efforts will be made to accommodate different experience and knowledge and to introduce participants in some of the areas of TCM philosophy without losing sight of the evidence for Acupuncture efficacy within the Western evidence based model. This course will provide the students with an integrated approach in order to manage some complex conditions presented within the management of Women's Health. This course provides a theoretical explanation using an evidence-based structure to demonstrate the physiological mechanisms occurring within some systemic, musculoskeletal and pain presentations together with the management of systemic dysfunction.
